I wonder if coke would work? This article was just posted on Hometalk and she used coke to get rust off of metal stool bases, but the same concept might work in sinks and for drains, I just might try coke in my bathroom, I have the same issue:

Try CLR (calcium, lime rust) Cleaner. Available Wal-Mart, Lowe's, giant.
you can buy white porcelain paint at the hardware store. I took a small artist brush and did lightly twice.
Fine grit sandpaper then fill with bleach and water let set until Stan is gone
You can try this but be careful and donāt let it set too long. Toilet bowl cleaner called The Works. That stuff has removed spray paint from brick when paint removers wouldnāt! Cheap and when done use it to clean your toilet.
bleach, vinegar, and bathroom cleaners do not work,I have tried it.Just a though which I have not gotten around to do you can try cream of tartar and some lemon juice.
