I know this sounds crazy but I tried ti and it actually worked! Just soak the pan with a bit of dish soap and a dryer sheet, the gunk comes right off. Saved one of my favorite pots this way.
A lot of baking soda sprinkled over the dampened burn and then add water....heat on stove or in oven and then let sit. After cooled, dump out water and a most scorched pieces should come along with it....then clean as normal.
