Usually dish detergent with water and an old soft toothbrush is sufficient. Don't soak just wash. For silver a jewelry tarnish remove. In a pinch use toothpaste to remove the tarnish by rubbing it on with your fingers then washing it off.
For gold and silver, I use the non-gel toothpaste. You can use a soft toothbrush or a microfiber cloth. Rinse well and dry.
For gold and gemstones I use glass cleaner. For silver, I have a silver-cleaning cloth.

I sell a lot of stuff on Ebay. I use white toothpaste (not gel) and a damp toothbrush. For large items I use a damp cloth. Works on jewelry, silverware, copper, brass, gold, silver, porcelain, ceramics, sneakers plastics, etc. For my sales I needed one product for cleaning everything. A dab of toothpaste on a damp toothbrush and gently brush letting it foam up. Wipe off with a damp cloth. For larget items I use a damp cloth. Toothpaste has fine marble powder in it as an abrasive.

I prefer to uses a jewelry cleaning cloth. It's not harmful to any type of jewelry, including pearls.
I have also recently used Norwex UPP in a challenge and it did a great job.
A few drops of ammonia, Dawn and warm water with a tooth brush. Do not use on pearls
I use. Just warm water and dish soap it works great put Jewlery in a clear glass add hot water add 1 squirt of dish soap then swoosh the water around for like 3 to 5 min then use soft tooth brush to get in between to clean and rinse

Depending on the jewelry... I use aluminum foil in a pan, sprinkle my silver jewelry with baking soda and pour on boiling water. The reaction cleans the silver beautifully!
