Cleaning a 1930's metal switch plate cover
I'm not sure the metal type and there is some built up residue in one corner. I would like to gently clean it up, it is very detailed. And suggestions?

Remove cover plates and use "Brasso" cleaner, available at hardware, home center, some grocery stores.
Try Wenol, they make a cleaner and a polisher. I have both. They work excellent. It's all I use to clean any type of silver, brass, gold, chrome. You can order them on Amazon. Haven't been able to find them in any stores.
As an electrician, with antique Cameo Switches, I do all of mine once annually.
You need to take off the plate cover by removing the two screws, you can then soak the plate cover in either
A. bleach water
B. Lestoil or Pine Sol water
C. Mr. Clean with water
D. OxyClean Detergent Additive and Water.
After soak you can shine those with any brass polish, Brasso works well.
