Hi Jackie,
Here are 3 ways to clean pewter, depending on how dirty or tarnished it is:

To wash it, use hot, soapy water on a sponge. Rinse it and dry with a soft cloth. Polishing it depends on the type of pewter you have. Here's a link:

Normal cleaning: use a few drops of dishwashing liquid in a sink of water. Put the pieces in the water and use a microfiber cloth to wash. Rinse and Dry.
Tarnished: 1 c white vinegar 1/2 c white flour mixed to a paste. Rub on with a soft cloth in circular motion. Rinse and dry.
Pewter doesn't usually need special care. Antique Pewter may need a little help. To clean antique pewter, put one teaspoon salt in one cup white vinegar. Add flour into salt and vinegar until it makes a paste. Apply the paste and let it sit on the pewter for fifteen minutes to an hour. Rinse with clean warm water and polish dry.

What I personally do is that I just combine small drops of dishwashing liquid together with hot water. Then just simply put the pieces in the water, make use of a microfiber cloth to wash. Rinse and Dry. This may also help https://www.thespruce.com/how-to-clean-pewter-5070697
