My screens are mostly on the inside and I take them off and use the brush attachment. If they still look like they need it I take them outside and hose them off and clean them up, then set them up against the house to dry in the sun.

I periodically remove my screens and use the hose on them. Wet them down and lightly scrub with a soft bristled scrub brush and blue Dawn dish soap. Rinse them from both sides. Bang down carefully one side of the frame to knock off excess water and allow to dry outdoors before putting back in place.
