How to clean wood slat blinds from cigarette smoke?

    simple green will remove most of the offending stain, a dilution of bleach will finish the job. Be sure to use a wash cloth and not soak the wood to avoid swelling that can damage them.

    We soak ours in bathtub with bleach and Dawn dish liquid or a degreaser from Walmart wash then hang out side and rinse with garden hose

    TSP is fantastic for removing smoke and nicotine.

    Ammonia diluted 50-50 with water in a spray bottle.
    The smell goes away as soon as it dries. Don't know of too many things that can clean like ammonia.

    If they are solid wood, you will have to clean each one individually. Try a Mr. Clean sponge. Those things clean anything. If your blinds are the wood looking vinyl, you can soak them in the bathtub with mild detergent. Rinse them off and hang them on a clothes line or over a fence, whatever you have to let them dry.
