Try putting it in the washer in a bag or in a panty hose leg tied off and wash on delicate cycle.

First I would try spreading it out in the sun.

Remove odors with "Fresh Wave" an All Natural Odor Remover available at Bed Bath & Beyond, Target and online. It is a bit pricey but it works! I have used it to remove the smell of Animals as well as Cigarette Smoke from Air, curtains, carpets, bedding, car interior (son-in-law is ex-smoker, does not believe I smoke in my car ;-). It has not stained any fabrics that I have used it on, but be careful of that. It is worth every penny and does not leave an odor of any kind behind. A slight fresh scent when applied but it disapates quickly. It does not Mask the smell, it literally gets rid of it. This is a lot better than Fabreeze. If you like Fabreeze you will absolutely love this stuff, I do. (can't you tell). Here in Fresno CA it is 8 bucks for an 8oz spray bottle. so worth it! It comes in other forms but I have not used them yet. Good luck in your DIY projects.

Place in a ziplock bag & add 1 cup of cornmeal & 1 cup of baking soda. Shake well off & on for a couple of days. Remove & place in a mesh potato or onion bag & hang outside for the wind to blow the loose cornmeal & baking soda from the yarn.
