I use the Swiffer dusters for this same problem. I even have a package of the dry floor duster cloths that work really well for hand dusting too.

i would try a brush so it really cleans out small details

I've used canned air dusters - designed for blowing away dust from computers/laptops, but it works great for removing dust from detailed wood work

Perhaps, use soft makeup brushes/small soft paint brushes in the cracks and crevices if the can of air leaves any dust behind? Do not use water.

I have used stainless steel cleaner. It has oil in it and the dirt lifts off and you just rinse them.

I would use a paint brush to loosen any dust in the crevaces then carefully vacuum. See how they look after that.

I do both, Diane ... vacuum or a large artist brush. I usually prefer the brush because of the crevices, etc. The trick is maintenace! It's much easier if you dust regularly instead of letting it collect because, depending on where you display items, that dust can turn into a greasy film that only soap can remove! For example, if an item is displayed in a kitchen, it will need more frequent dusting than if it were displayed in a living room.
