Kilz is a stain hiding primer. I have used it on the same problem and it worked wonderfully.
Buy Kilz, it gets rid of stains, but u then need to paint over it for a nice clean look.
The primer is a good idea BUT the leak should be handled or you'll be growing mold on the opposite side of the ceiling!
Solve your plumbing and (if needed) replace the ceiling.
Mold will continue to grow if moisture is present, no matter what you painted on.
