We have very hard water too. Its very frustrating.
I think the easy remedy is probably the most expensive -a water softner system.
We have to be discipled to fight to prevent the mineral deposits and water spots. Routine drying out the shower enclosure shower glass -all metal faucets- fridge water dispenser and bathtubs have to be done with towel and squeegee. At home car washng? It has to be dried immediately!
For the toilet water bowl I have found a solution.
Tang - koolaid did not work for my hard water stains/ ring.
The pumice stick this is excellent way to remove stains and rings in the toilet. When commercial toilet cleaners fail this is my go to. Great for thick crusted calcium mineral build up.
They are found at my local Walmart for less than two dollars -good for multiple uses. Be sure to follow the use instructions, soak the pumice stone in water for a few minutes. While the stone is soaking, grab your toilet brush and splash water up around the ring. Note: It’s very important to keep both the stone and the surface wet while cleaning to avoid scratching your porcelain.

I feel for you. We have the same problem and constantly changing hot water tank elements, draining it, stained sinks and tub and calcium buildup on faucets. If you use something too caustic on faucets is destroys the finish. Like it says above, use a pumice stone for commodes. For showers and tubs and faucets will help keeping them wiped down after use will help keep from buildup. Drain hot water tank often. I used vinegar once a week in dishwasher and washer. Chemical/hard water is hard on appliances and costly to maintain. Good luck and stay at it.
We have same problem here in Arizona. Use pumice stone to remove stains from bowl and I put “The Works” (from Walmart) toilet tablets. They have bleach in them, just drop one in your tank every 30 days. This took care of our problem.
Calcium buildup is ongoing in my town, but here’s my method to totally clean it and what to do after it’s clean to keep it that way. First, take the top off the toilet tank, then flush. When the tank is half full, fill th rest of the way with vinegar. As the toilet is used the black around the holes will disappear. Continue until it is clean. To maintain it, watch for signs of black and repeat the process. Every two or three months works for me. No scrub, no pumice, no scrape, no scratches. vinegar smells strong at first, but dissipates.
