I need help removing a super glued cutting board from the counter

Someone (definitely not me) super glued a cutting board with roosters to the counter top in the kitchen in the house we are renting. If we use acetone, it will destroy the counter. The owner is beside himself as to how to remove it with ruining the counter top and costing hundreds to replace it. Its getting black along the edges of the cutting board. I keep spraying Goo Gone, but its not working.

Try to saw through the glue with fishing line. (use it like dental floss to get between countertop and cutting board)

OMG!!!!! Why would someone do that...I would be calling every Glue manufacture in the entire world and ask if there is an antidote to dissolve the glue...Good Luck !!!

How about trying some heat? That softens up many glue products- use a hair dryer on low heat and try to warm the glue under the cutting board.

acetone dissolves superglue (I know because we have to do this at work). Buy fingernail polish remover with acetone, or buy straight acetone from the hardware store.

The problem is once the piece is removed, you will still have the residue stuck to the countertop surface. It may be best to paint it with some good epoxy paint and live with it.

What type of countertop is it? I've spilled acetone on my formica counters and amazing as it sounds-no damage. Just try a drop in the corner of the counter where you wouldn't see it and see if there's damage. If not, go for it, it sounds like you have nothing to lose.
