You don't "clean" per se. First is to bail out one third of the water. Have enough declorinated water, same temp as the fish water ready. Use the vacuum hose to syphon debris. Get a scraper to remove algae, or better yet, if your tank is sixty gallons or more, get a pleco (plecostimous) and it will scrape the glass clean for you..anything ten or more gals should be cleaned this way
