Try CLR or Barkeepers Friend
CLR. Safe to use on a large variety of surfaces, has a great rating and works like a charm. Available at most supermarkets and all general merchandise stores. Many concoctions you make at home with baking soda will scratch acrylic tub enclosures. My family owns a large company that installs tub enclosures so that's how I know
Hello, I use the works toilet bowl cleaner to get the rust off my tub. Don't buy the basic buy the regular. I think it is around $3. It will foam up so let it sit for a minute or two and then spray it off.
I live in a town that the water has a high iron c.l.r. is the only way to get the bath clean. If you have a water softener there is a type of salt that has iron removing properties.
I've used Barkeeper's Friend and have had success removing rust from the fiberglass tub edge. My husband left a wet can of shaving cream sitting there while I was hospitalized :-( I thought it was there for good but I was pleasantly surprised when it removed the ring. It did take a bit of scrubbing but nothing major.
You could try Whink's rust remover. It comes in a brown bottle with white writing in your household cleaner section
A water softener is for hard water. Consider a whole house iron filter to prevent this from happening. You can use Iron Out or Easy Off No Fume Oven Cleaner in the BLUE can to clean.
