This homemade cleaner works great on mold and mildew, but is also safer than bleach. We don’t recommend bleach for those with breathing issues or children/pets due to the toxicity https://chemistrycachet.com/the-best-way-to-remove-mold-mildew/
Ann,. Most people think, other people don't have this problem. We get this question at least once a day. This is an old product with a new name, I've use it and its unbelievable how well it works. (Mold and Mildew killer and quick stain remover. Lime green bottle with yellow and white sprayer. If you have a bathroom window, open it at the top slightly. You can purchase the product at Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Shop Rite, and Lowe's. It's a 32 ounce bottle. The name of the company is WM. Barr, If you can't find it call them 886-326-7743. Aloha!
Hi Ann,
Once you've address this problem, you'll need to investigate whether or not you need a larger bathroom exhaust fan with an automatic humidity sensor. Although they cost more, it will save you thousands in mold remediation if this problem is not corrected. Further, it saves you finding that family members forgot to turn on a fan when showering.
With a standard bath fan, the exhaust must not only be run during the shower, but additionally for 20-30 minutes after shower is done.
Use towels without fabric softener, and change vinyl shower curtain liners to the fabric type, which releases more water, faster.
Vinegar is your go to and extremely inexpensive.

Then determine why this occurring. Generally lack of proper ventilation. Install a ceiling fan, crack a window, use a portable fan.
A solution of 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water is a good way to kill any type of mold. FYI--just because the mold is black does not mean that it is "black mold."
