You can try to wrap the faucet in a towel wrapped in white vinegar and leave it on overnight

I use old tooth paste
Rustoleum has some new metal sprays that may help. I recently used one to refinish a doorknob set. You'll need to spray outside because of the fumes, but, it dries quickly and looks great. After it dried I sprayed it with a waterproof sealer. They are both available in the paint aisle of most stores.
