Rust removal on brass

I have an old brass hanging scale that has rust on it. I cannot dip it in rust remover or do drastic things as it also has glass and numbers. I want to keep it in it's original state as much as possible. Does anyone have a solution?

Cover the brass with Tomato Ketchup and rub with an old Toothbrush ( yes Ketchup) you may need to do this a couple of times it won't be like new but will improve the look of It no end. Then just rinse off the Ketchup with warm water this will not damage the glass or numbers. Hope this helps.

You can get Naval Jelly at the hardware store. It works wonders. You just rub it on, and wipe it off. I've used it with success many times!

Try Brasso and the magic eraser. The military use Brasso for all their brass buckles!
