Shower Curtain Tip

When you purchase a new fabric shower curtain or fabric shower curtain liner, wash it according to manufacturer instructions. I generally just toss mine in cold water, cold rinse, and I use a "free and clear" type detergent, just a tiny amount, with a white vinegar rinse. Then hang up damp. Not only are all the folds from the packaging gone, it will be less likely to mildew in the future. Also a good idea if you plan on using the shower for another purpose, i.e. curtains. In addition if you have an "inside bathroom" - no windows to the outside, make sure you run the exhaust fan. I live in a hot a dusty climate and have a window (that is at least cracked open most of the year), in my bathroom, so I have less likelihood of mildew. Those that live where humidity can be high, run the fan, open the window, use a dehumidifier, whatever options you may have to keep the yucky stuff at bay. Now I have not tried this with plastic shower curtains, but I bet it is worth a try - just be sure to use the delicate cycle on your washer.
