for rust ...make a paste with cream of tartar and lemon...for mildew..make a paste with white vinegar and water...for everyday soap residue use a bathtub cleaner that has Hydrogen Peroxide in it.
I swear by Awesome Orange, I have done some of the most digusting tubs in the world as a caregiver, and this stuff melts it off with hardly any scrubbing. Buy it at the Dollar Store. PS I buy the half gallon for a $1. Beats anything else I have tried, beats bleach and water.... its amazing!

Spray KABOOOM on and scrub with a white Magic eraser ( white sponge ). I use this on the floor of my shower and it works wonders.
