I've not ever used steel wool on my toilet bowl, but try pumice stone. My husband says that will scratch the surface, but I've used them and they seem to work just fine. Or, I've heard that pouring a can of coca cola in the bowl and let it set for a few hours, then brush and flush. I haven't actually tried it, but intend to soon. I've read that works well. Can't hurt to try it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve tried both. Neither worked.

I simply keeps the light gray tone.

Just looks like muddy water. Only lighter in color.

The pumice stone did not scratch the porcelain.

      Thanks anyway.

i was so ticked when this happened to me! I took a magic scrubber to it and it helped - one spot I used a porous block ( used for water spots in my pool. It states off looking worse but it got better
