I am using TSP and then there is a product called Sander/Deglosser. You wash the cabinets with the tsp to remove dirt and grease. Then you apply the Sander/Deglosser for the paint to stick. It turns out great.
Dawn dish washing liquid works well on grease, try it.
Here's an article you can peek at there are several suggestions. https://www.jimthehandyman.com/clean-cabinets-before-painting/#:~:text=Take%20a%20damp%20microfiber%20cloth,can%20damage%20your%20cabinet's%20wood. Also there's a product from Dixie Belle that works really well called White Lightening.
Dawn dish-washing liquid in hot water will work well on painted cabinets. Use a soft lint free cloth to wash the cabinets, use another clean cloth dipped in warm clear water to rinse and then dry thoroughly. Do sections of the cabinets separately. Nancy's suggestion of a Sander/Deglosser sounds like a good idea too.
As a cleaning solution, combine one cup vinegar, two cups warm water, and one tablespoon baking soda (for added power, add a tiny bit of dish soap). Work out the portions of you cabinets that are more heavily greased and soiled by dipping a soft cloth into the mixture.
Hello, hope this helps you. I cleaned mine with a mix of TSP and hot water. Mix the TSP powder into hot water until no more will dissolve. Swab it on the wall, and sponge it dry. Rinse with clear water, then sponge dry again. Once you are sure you have thoroughly rinsed and dried the cabinets you can start your project. Here is a video to guide you.
