Supplies

3 cups of water

1 cup of vinegar

Bowl

Measuring cup

Produce from the grocery store can have germs or bacteria on them that you want to wash off before you eat. The most common source of these germs is from other shoppers who may sneeze or cough in the produce area. There may also be pesticides or chemicals on the fruit that you want to wash off.

Soak the fruit

Place the fruit in a bowl. Add 3 cups of cold water and 1 cup of vinegar. Let it soak for 5-10 minutes.

Fruit should be washed right before you plan to eat it. Washing it right when you get home from the grocery store and then storing it can make it go bad faster, especially with soft skinned fruits like berries.

Rinse off the fruit

Rinse the fruit off with more cold water. Dry with a clean hand towel or paper towel.

Eat your fruit

Your fruit is now clean and ready to eat!

Yes I do disinfect everything when I return home from shopping or when an online order is delivered which is a pain in my behind but I do it but I find that my fruit seems to go bad faster it could be cause I don’t refrigerate every piece of fruit some sits in a basket on the counter and I refill it as it’s eaten but it still seems to go bad faster haven’t taken much notice to the veggies yet. I guess my question is does anyone know why this happens and how to prevent it other then refrigerating every piece of fruit ?
