Hi hometalkers! Growing up my mom always had a pot of cinnamon sticks brewing on the stove and every time you walked in her house smelled wonderful. No matter what time of year you can have that warm fall smell filling your home. I decided to do my own spin on my mom's cinnamon pot. Cinnamon is actually a very good smell to block odors and make the house smell very welcoming. I think I'm going to be experimenting with a few more recipes as I am trying to phase out candle usage in my house. My name is Beth and I'm a candle holic LOL. So here's how I made my crock pot potpourri. I hope you enjoy! Beth

I first took a cup of water and filled my mini Crock-Pot with it and then turned on the pot to high. I eventually turn the crock pot to simmer after I'm done stirring in all my ingredients and letting it sit for a bit. You can put as little or as much as you want depending on how long you think you're going to brew it for.

Then I gathered all my ingredients. Ground cinnamon spice, ground cloves spice, two oranges and 3 cinnamon sticks. you can of course adjust any of the ingredients for any strength that you would like.

I first sprinkled a generous amount of cinnamon into the crock pot :)

I then sprinkled some cloves over the cinnamon sprinkles and stirred.

I then added three cinnamon sticks. :)

The last and final step is cutting up two oranges or more and placing them in the crock pot with the rest of the ingredients. I like to give it a good stir and let it sit on high for a little while to get everything Brewing. I eventually turn it down to simmer. You can put the top on I like keeping it off for full strength. You can also add water as it gets low. I plan on trying out the oranges and cinnamon sticks once I am done with this particular pot and I'm going to place them in bowls around my house. I definitely look forward to experimenting with my recipe and maybe a few more. I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy tutorial.

I do this all day long, with the same crock pot...go figure! The house smells heavenly! Always immediate, positive, remarks from everyone. Go for it, you'll love this! Beth, can you come up with other fragrant recipes? Just as some of the candle scents.

Great idea to use a crock pot. I have had this on the stove in the past, but a crock pot much safer. THANKS for the idea! Will do it this way!
