If really grimy, TSP, but it also removes the shine. Murphy's Oil Soap is good but doesn't cut grease build up.

TSP, trisodium phosphate, or Krud Kutter.

Wood should be cleaned with a neutral cleaner. Fortunately, dish soap is nearly neutral. A few drops in warm water is excellent for cutting kitchen grime. Afterwards, use orange oil or similar to buff and restore. If the dirt is too intense for this method, use a pine cleaner, just a few drops, in warm water. This is more harsh and I only use this if the dish soap doesn't work. Murphys is very hard on wood. It is an alkali cleaner and much too astringent.

I use 1 cup ammonia, 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda in a bucket of warm water. Wash down with a rag. Cuts grease & grime. No rinsing. Makes wood shine. Can be used on painted surfaces too. Can also be put in a spray bottle for easy application.

  • I use TSP substitute mixed with water in a spray bottle with a rag. Wipes the grease off in seconds with no work.

To clean wood cabinets with Murphy's oil soap, you can follow these steps:

    1. Dilute the Murphy's oil soap with water according to the instructions on the bottle.
    2. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the solution and wring out the excess liquid.
    3. Gently wipe the wood cabinets with the damp cloth, making sure not to oversaturate the wood.
    4. Wipe the cabinets again with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue.
    5. Dry the cabinets thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth.
