Powerwash is best. I've scrubbled my outdoor rubs with vinegar and dawn. It usually works for algae and mildew. My patio cushions I replace every other year. I give the. A quick vinegar, dawn wash not a real scrubbing like my rug. I rinse and it seems to freshen it up between seasons.

I used Borax when I cleaned mine, simply made a solution of 1 quart warm water, 1 teaspoon Dawn dishwashing liquid, and 1 tablespoon Borax, scrubbed with a sponge. let them soak and rinsed with a hose. I hung them from the ties to dry. They turned out reasonably well, considering it was the first time they'd been washed in the probably 6 years I've had them.
