Keep it closed on stormy/ windy days

Beat up from what? blowing away? I had one of those large resin bladders you fill with water and then put the end of the umbrella in it on the deck, has a couple screws to tighten it in.

  • Close it when you're not using it. I put mine in the garage when we're not using it

Hubby cemented a metal pole into the ground and we placed the umbrella pole inside of that (about 4 feet). It stands up to a good gust of wind but will not leave it out in bad weather. That is when it goes into the shed.

good idea...no one to help with that concrete...idea,i have a nice cast iron holder for it,but pole is light weight and too tedious and often with the storms here..i have bought heavy and cheap...the heavy ones had the supporting rungs break..wood or metal to umbrella
