Southern Traditions: Why Did My Grandmas Sweep Their Yards?
My question as I watched these grandparents was always, "Why are you sweeping your yards, and why is there no grass around your house?" We have grass around ours.
If your gutters are very high, look into Leaf Guard or Gutter Helmet. Both are stellar products and you never, ever have to clean gutters, thereafter!
Home depot sells an extra long want attachment for your powerwasher that may reach your gutters. Other than that, the only other idea is to hire it out..
They make an attachment for your hose , I have never used one , but have seen them online. My husband bought a butter scoop from home depot , $4
Maybe you can attach it to an extension pole . Good luck !
We have a long handled wand that you can attach to your hose, the head is moveable to be able to angle it right. It makes your hose like a pressure washer. It will work as long as the gunk from the trees, etc. isn't growing or really matted up. Our son goes on the roof or an extension ladder with our leaf blower if the gutter contents are fairly dry and it gets done pretty quickly. If the tree seeds are sprouting and everything is a matter mess, he uses my soil scoop to get most out, then uses the hose to rinse it out. It's nice to have the youngins around for jobs like that. Hubby won't let me do it, guess he thinks I am too old to tackle the job, even though I could probably do it with my eyes closed.
Gutter screens or covers may be a future solution once they are clean. Fortunately we don't have too many problems in our area. In fact many houses don't even have gutters. We get about 7" of rain per year in eastern WA - steppe climate.
First answer is way, way, way too much work. Here is a picture of an aparatus you attach to your power washer. You can stand on the ground and your extension arm reaches up to the gutters, attach this gizmo and clean gutters from the ground. It's available on Amazon and it's called Powerfit PF31052B Gutter Cleaner Attachment
I use a leaf blower with an extension to blow out the gutters from the ground.
If you have a 2-3-4 story home, you need to seriously consider gutter guards, Leaf Guard, Gutter Helmet, which not only avoid your having to deal with leaves, but if the gutter becomes obstructed by birds, etc., the company takes care of it for free, for your lifetime.
You can buy an attachment for your hose at your home store it is shaped like a cane, some houses you can stand on the ground to use it, on a two story you would need a ladder too.
This product says the handle extends to 17 feet.

I pay for a service at my mom's house both spring and fall. Since gutter cleaners are a dime a dozen, I can typically get a good price and still get a decent job.
