1. Prepare Your Bathtub
Start by removing your oven racks and placing a towel at the bottom of the bathtub. This simple step will prevent any scratches to your bath during the cleaning process.
2. Arrange the Oven Racks
Carefully place your oven grates on top of the towel in the bathtub. Now, it's time to turn up the heat—literally. Fill the bath with boiling water until the oven racks are fully submerged.
3. Add the Secret Ingredient
Take a cup of laundry detergent and generously pour it into the bath. The combination of hot water and detergent will work wonders on stubborn grime and grease.
4. Let It Soak
Leave the oven racks to soak in the bath for at least four hours. However, for optimal results, I recommend letting them sit overnight. Trust me; it's worth the wait!

After the soaking session, it's time to roll up your sleeves and give the grates a good scrub. Use a scrub brush to remove any remaining residue.

Shirleen on Dec 10, 2023I tried to this hack......but when i took the racks out and then the towel, and drained the water, we found that the finish on the bathtub was damaged. We had to have the entire tub professionally refinished. It was a very expensive lesson learned. :-(
