We bought a dryer recently and there was a dryer sheet inside as a free *GIFT*...ugh. It smelled so strong and terrible. I was not a fan. Took forever to get rid of the smell. Here's why they're not great for you: https://www.healthline.com/health/dryer-sheets-toxicity#research

I UNDERSTAND DRYER SHEETS DEPOSIT SMALL AMOUNTS OF MATERIAL ON THE DRYER's LINT SCREEN. IT IS NOT EASY TO SEE
AND THE SCREEN APPEARS TO BE OPEN AND CLEAN. IT IS NOT IF DRYER SHEETS WERE USED. THIS BUILD UP IS CUMULATIVE AND REDUCES THE AIR FLOW, MAKING THE DRYER RUN A LOT LONGER TO DRY.
THE SOLUTION IS TO WASH THE FILTER IN WARM SOAPY WATER ,
GENTLY BRUSH THE SCREEN, RINSE IT, PAT DRY WITH TOWEL AND INSTALL IT BACK INTO DRYER.
DO NOT RUN DRYER WITHOUT A CLEAN MESH FILTER. COVER ANY CUTS IN MESH WITH SMALL PIECE OF TAPE ON LINTY SIDE. LINT CAN QUICKLY BUILD UP IN THE DRYER's EXHAUST VENT PIPE OR TUBE AND MAY CATCH FIRE.
YOU CAN USE A FLASHLIGHT TO LOOK INTO THE FILTER SLOT
TO SEE IF THERE IS LINT ACCUMULATED THERE. EVERY YEAR I
USE THE VACUUM TO SUCK MY LINT OUT. I USE A CARDBOARD
TUBE FROM EMPTY FOIL OR PAPER TOWEL ROLL. I FLATTEN MOST OF THE TUBE TO MAKE IT FIT THE OPENING AND TAPE
THE ROUND END ON THE VACUUM HOSE.
I BOUGHT AN EXTRA SET OF WOOL BALLS ON SALE. ;-)) WOOL BALLS WORK FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN THINKING OF USING A CUTTER THAN TRIMS OFF LUMPS ON SURFACE OF SWEATERS AND SUCH. IT COLLECTS A BUNCH OF LINT. THE WOOL BALLS HAVE PICKED UP A LOT OF DARK LINK FROM NEW DARK MEN's SOCKS.
