OMG!!!! I hear you on this one! I have a really hard time with that! Where is the cat smell?? On the walls or in a piece of furniture you are re-doing? When we bought our house, the cat smell was so incredibly strong I could barely go down there. We have totally eliminated that smell. The way we did it was by washing all the walls. I carpet cleaned the basement berber carpet twice and we put a de-humidifier in the room. When that de-humidifier ran I couldn't smell cat. However the least bit of moisture brought the smell back into the room slightly. Over the years it dissipated but to really get rid of the smell completely we took up the carpet and put down a rubber floor over the cement. I don't smell anything when I go down there now. GOOD LUCK!!!!! You will need it while cleaning. lol.
Wash, clean, shampoo anything in the area with vinegar and water, with a little Dawn for a fresh, soft finish. Include chair and stool legs, cushions, and any other areas where the cat may have napped or sat without “wiping”. Dry in the sunshine and a breeze if possible. Best wishes!
I’ve used straight rubbing alcohol on furniture, painted walls and carpet/rugs and it’s worked great. Killing the bacteria that causes the smell is key to making the smell go away. And cat urine is sticky, so I mixed a little Dawn with the alcohol on floors and walls.
One of my 2 cats (both neutered males) had taken to painting all of my walls, furniture, and anything else he could reach. I was horrified when I got a UV light. He never did that in all of the 9 years I've had him and didn't when I got him a buddy (they love each other and did so right away) but when a strange black cat started showing up outside both of my cats went nuts and the older one (9) started his wall painting, as well as the curtains out in the kitty room. I couldn't keep up with it.
My cats are indoor cats so it's not like the stray is actually going to get in here but they both hate him (and he is weird...my neighbor's cats hate him too). I've tried cleaning with a pet urine enzyme and then spraying some "No More Spraying" but that hasn't worked. He's a sneaky little bugger too; he waits until he thinks I'm not looking and then does it. He's learned that the minute I see him backing his butt up to something he gets yelled at.
It wasn't until I found "Cat Spraying No More" that I was able to finally get rid of this tiresome behavior.
Now my house doesn't smell like a litter box anymore :)
Every time I clean my mirrors, they end up having tons of streaks and almost look worse than before I started. What could I use to clean them that won't leave streaks...

You need an enzyme cleaner odor cleaner from the pet store. Natures Miracle is one of the best.

Zero Odor works great! I order it on Amazon.com. They offer pet odor spray, liter box spray and a general household formula.
