Sometimes homemade products don't work quite as well as commercial products. I would choose to use homemade dishwasher pods for dishes that are only lightly soiled and commercial products for the heavy greasy dirt on pots and pans.
JoAnn: I used to cheap-out and buy store-brand dishwashing liquid. I even trie4d all kinds of additives to help get sparkly-clean dishes. I finally bit the bullet aned bought the Platinum series of Cascade. ...I was SHOCKED at my dishes! They did sparkle! Some things are worth buying. Amen.
I too use Cascade Platinum. Nothing else seems too work as well. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet. Check online for coupons for Cascade. My Fred Meyer/Kroger grocery puts them on sale frequently so I save my coupons for that sale.
