An air filter would definitely help. Also remember that when you dust, unless you actually pick up the dust with a vacuum or a damp rag, the dust will go into the air and eventually settle again. Keep your windows closed and if your home is heated or cooled by central air up grade you air filters.

Is the flue open on your fire place? Does it need to be cleaned out?

Check you clothes dryer to make sure it doesn't have a leak in the hose or blockage.

If you are a smoker go outside so you don't add more ash to the air inside.

Dust and then vacuum. That way you are not getting all that dust you just vacuumed up all over the floor again.

Dust sticks more to rough surfaces then smooth one. Barnwood collects more dust then a smooth painted wall.

Caulk your baseboards and window panes to eliminate gaps. Look for any gaps outside your home and caulk them as well.

It’s a long shot but maybe your landlord will let you move to a different unit.

Try "wet dusting." You might consider an ionizer too.
