I don't use baking soda, but 1/2 cup Blue Dawn and 1 cup peroxide makes an excellent stain remover and upholstery/carpet cleaner. Mix, spray, let sit 2-3 minutes, then scrub with light or dark colored cloth (depending on item color) and let dry. If item feels soapy, blot area with wet cloth, then dry cloth. This cleaner can be stored.

1 Tablespoon of each. Mix and cover each stain with the mixture and let set. (I let it set overnight on a set of sheets which were blood stained). Machine wash. Repeat if necessary if stains still exist. Worked for me!
