Buy organic milk, it lasts way longer than reg milk does which makes the price difference worth it because your not throwing it away.

Make sure your refrigerator is at the proper temperature, don't store in the door because the temp lowers every time the door is opened. Also, use the bottle and immediately return to fridge.

Hello Wanda. I am a senior and found it hard to keep a supply of milk in the house as I needed more when the grandchildren visited and much less when I was alone. I found that paying a bit more for ``microfiltered`` milk was the best answer for me as the milk does not sour as fast as regular milk and I seem to get a few extra weeks holding time. That saves a lot of the cost of keeping a larger supply of milk and not finding it has gone sour as fast as the regular 2% milk. Hope this helps.

My fridge is at the recommended 37*. It helps to have a frig where ice and water is available from the freezer door---less opening. I keep my milk in the middle section close to the wall. Let hot food cool off before you refrigerate. Stop children and spouses from standing in the refrigerator door for unreasonable amounts of time. Last but not least--- when you go to the grocery buy the most future dated container of milk that you can find. If you and/or your family are not using the size of milk you are purchasing---decrease the size. Make sure your Frig is cooling properly. Good luck!

All the ideas here are great. I try to buy the longest-dated, coldest containers (from the bottom/back of the dairy case), and go right home with it. I also keep some powdered milk on hand for those times when we're out and need some for coffee, cereal, etc.
