Hi, Barbara!
There is a product sold at most home improvement stores called Damp Rid that is supposed to absorb odors and should work really well! I hope this helps!
Here is a good article https://www.familyhandyman.com/basement/how-to-get-rid-of-that-musty-smell-in-your-basement/
Also consider installing a dehumidifier.
Hi Barbara. I run a dehumidifier, and empty it every day.
If the musty smell seems to be emanating from a small area like a closet or cupboard, grab some baking soda! Place a small dish of baking soda in the enclosed area for up to 24 hours. The baking soda will absorb excess moisture and odors, and leave things smelling much fresher.
Get more ventilation, or use a dehumidifier or buy damp collectors from cheap store.
