Hi Toots,
There is no way to keep dust out of the house, it is made of lots of things, including skin cells.
Here's a couple of links to help you control your dust levels:

Your best option is to dust regularly
Thats a great question thats difficult to totally eliminate. Control measures might be instituted. Not wearing shoes in the house, keeping hvac filters clean, keeping windows closed, meticulous vacuuming and not having pets might be considered for reduction factors. Hope this helps.
You can frequently change your furnace filters. That helps a lot, but I've found a big source of dust is ductwork that hasn't been sealed. One house I used to clean had their ducts in the crawl space sealed and the dust was visibly reduced.
Hi ! Dust is everywhere ! But there are things you can do to cut down on dust .
Leave your shoes at the door , wipe dust off , instead of using a duster that just blows it around ( and do it on a regular basis ) If it is because of a health issue , try to get rid of carpets and rugs also invest in a plug in air filter unit , that will trap dust . Good luck !
Try "wet" dusting. You can't stop dust from happening.

I live where it is really dusty and have allergies along with a house full of pets. Wet dusting works. Plus my allergist recommended this method too. Use a soft cotton or microfiber cloth.

Check doors and windows for caulking and seals that need replacing.
Keep doors and windows closed but if they are open make sure you have good screens.
Wet dusting will also help to keep the dust down. A humidifier and an air purifier will also help.
Hi Toots - We use this duster spray in conjunction with our swiffer. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

Hello Toots, keeping dust at bay is an impossible task, but here are some tips that can hopefully help you to reduce the dust in your home, I don'y agree with the "no carpet" one, I just vacuum weekly and it does not collect the dust.

Seconding the wet dusting technique. My kid is allergic so our doctor suggested doing it this way. You can't completely eliminate it seeing as it is an accumulation of stuff including our skin, but you can control it; wet dusting spreads it far less than a dry cloth. You can also try installing an air purifier if you have some money to spare. Some additional guidance though as it says here, the CADR rating might matter regarding dust, but not necessarily when it comes to efficiency and cleanliness of air.
