Swiffer Wetjet Liquid Cleaner Copycat?

Ive seen recommendations for DIY Swiffer wetjet liquid using a few drops of dawn and a little of this and that, but what that mixture fails at is surface tension. Its missing an ingredient that allows the liquid to be spread easily and consistently on the floor surface. Tiles have coated or glazed surfaces, giving them a low coefficient of friction. The swiffer branded liquid has an ingredient that allows it to coat slick surfaces, spread and remain until it air dries. The homemade prep does not, is attracted to the swiffer pad and does not spread evenly and stay on the surface until dry. I tried some isopropyl alcohol which breaks surface tension, but not well enough. Anyone have any idea what ingredient will work without leaving a film?

Hi Gary have you considered adding a little vinegar to your mix? I've always had good luck with it for cleaning my hardwoods. I used just a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water though.
Thank you! The base formula includes vinegar, water, dishwashing liquid, some isopropanol. Basic household ingredients. Clearly, P&G adds some component that changes to surface tension/COF and spread-ability of the liquid on coated surfaces. I just don't know if such an ingredient is either available to consumers or is cost effective.
I am no chemist, but have you tried adding a little vinegar?

It really depends on what type of flooring you are cleaning. If tile you can use white vinegar water and Dawn. I would not use it on wood flooring, vinegar can dry out the wood. Bona is the best cleaner for wood flooring. On Laminate, vinegar takes off the top layer and leaves it dull. Acetone the kind you buy in the hardware store cleans laminate very well, but you can only use it quarterly or on heavy stains. You can also try some peroxide and water mixture with a couple of drops of Dawn.

Do not use dish soap! Instead refill with the same amount for dish soap formula with a cleaner made for floors #MrClean #LysolCleaner &Vinegar. I use this all the time&if I don't have vinegar,I use Windex. Perfect on my tile floors which are exactly supermarket tile floors/hospital tile floors. After I wash them I use a pastewax(Butcher's Paste Wax Is Best) they shine like glass using a buffing machine we've had for 30 yrs the size of an upright vacuum.) Dish soap no matter water, will streak especially a degreaser dish soap.
