I use Murphys Oil cleaner. Use a flat microfiber mop-- has removeable pad you wash in machine. No more climbing ladders. If you have a stubborn spot, use a magic eraser or Krud Kutter original concentrate. A friend that cleans houses loves the mop for walls.

We have been using Mr. Clean Sponge Erasers, that you can also buy by the hundreds for pocket change on eBay. Rub a damp Sponge eraser gently over the stain and watch pretty much any stain disappear without damaging the paint. We have used it on superficial surface stains on leather car seats, too, but be very careful not to press too hard or too long, as it can damage the leather. If it doesn't work, give up quickly and use a quality leather cleaner instead.
