What can I buy to mask smoke smell while cleaning it?
I need to wash the walls to get rid of the smoke but a short time in the house gives me a migraine.
Is there something inexpensive to wear to help me not breath the smoke while I clean?
What is the best solution of chemicals to wash those walls with?
Thank you

I completely understand your situation.
Could you possibly wear a soft mask and place something on the the outside to mask and block the offensive odor?
In the OR we would put a mint oil dab on the outside of our our masks- or wave that a gauze in the air with with it when exposed to noxious odors. Ive also seen TV shows were the coroner uses Vicks vaporub on the mask that could be the best option as it is meant to be on the skin. Keep scents away from the eyes in any case.
Vinegar in warm water with just a drop or so of dish soap will help remove that smoke smell. The vinegar smell will dissipate as it dries. You will also have to clean any kind of flooring, drapes/curtains, and furniture. Don't forget about closet walls as well. Repainting walls and ceilings also helps. It's a big job.
I would wear a P95 or P100 respirator mask. They aren’t expensive and can be used over and over again, if you store it somewhere clean & safe.
Be sure and ventilate the room and wear latex or rubber gloves.
You can put yarn through 3 balls of soap and wear them. Yeah it will look a bit silly, but: I am sure it will do wonders to relieve you before you get your migraines.
Is this cigarette smoke or fire smoke? I use Dollar Tree Awesome Orange in the half gallon, get the car sponge and rubber kitchen gloves to clean my clients homes of grease and cigarrette smoke. If its fire smoke, I suggest you get Room Shocker for each room to deodorize it for a day or two. Either way wear a good rated mask. When we used to rehab apartments when I was manager, they put 1-2 coats of primer on before painting. We would throw out the curtains and carpet. Average cost for a 1 bedroom apartment was $6,000.
I'd get a respirator. Makes me sick too!
Facemask and goggles.
