Hi Ana I was surprised when I went looking for natural recipes for a rug shampoo to find most folks use the same thing I use as a basic cleaner around the house. Which is a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water with a dash of essential oils thrown in.
No. We have a proprietary carpet cleaner so we’re tied to those solutions. But here’s a link for your consideration. Hope this helps.

IYou can use Dawn dishwashing liquid, Oxiclean, and even some fabric softener. Personally, I only use Dawn and Oxiclean. I use 1/2 tsp. Dawn, 1 Tbsp. Oxiclean dissolved in water and then use the hottest water possible to fill the container on the machine. I often even use a cupr two of boiling water from the microwave to get the water as hot as possible. Some recipes suggest using hydrogen peroxide but I'm fearful it might change the colors in my carpet.
I usually go through a second process of using very hot water and a cup of vinegar as a rinse.

Are you wanting to make your own rug shampoo for use with a machine, or to use straight up on the carpet?
Machines require a specific recipe so as to inhibit too much foaming which will clog up the machine, similar to dishwashers requiring a different recipe of soap than hand washing dish soap.
I use The 50WhiteVine
Ana, Thank you for the updated details added to your question.

I use vinegar and water 50/50 with a couple drops of blue dawn. The vinegar smell goes away in under an hour.
50/50 vinegar and water and add a few drops of Blue Dawn dish soap. The vinegar will prevent over foaming.
I just mix equal parts of water and vinegar with drops of dawn dish soap. Hope this helps!
