How to Make a Vintage Cake Tin Caddy

My craft room is in dire need of an organizational makeover. I'm down to a very small work-space on my workbench and needed to corral some of my vintage junk and tools.
I combined two simple pieces I had on hand--an old cake tin and a wooden handle--to make an attractive, vintage-y caddy.
I bought this old cake tin at a garage sale over a year ago. It took that long for inspiration to hit.
I buy old wooden and metal handles like these whenever I see them.
Attaching the handle to the tin, and applying a cute stencil, became the perfect solution to my problem. Check out the blog post for more how-to's.

The cake tin looks new in the 'after' photo-what did you use to clean most of the rust off of it?
