Best way to store fabric pieces

    on wooden hangers...the rod on the bottom is much thicker than a wire hanger...less creasing.

    I store my fabric by color, rolled up and placed on end in banker's storage boxes. I store my smaller pieces in drawers folded like you buy fat quarters in stores. This keeps everything by color and from dust and fading. I also wash everything before I store it away so it is ready to go for any project.

    Some fabrics will do better if you store them flat, like knits. I use a Post It to record fabric content (cotton, poly, wool) and how much fabric is in each piece (if it is 1 yd or more) I also sort them by size. Plastic bins and the cedar chest are my go tos. Try to keep the bins out of daylight if they are clear. Some of my larger pieces are on the cardboard tube and covered in plastic.
