I bought a file cabinet and hanging files then use a file folder. Mine are in ABC order by bill name and I have one file for utilities, mortgage, etc. only keep items that are necessary and shred the rest.

You can usually find filing cabinets at Goodwill, Salvation Army really cheap. They are easy to update with a little Rustoleum. The drawers are built for filing system. You can buy the folders and such at Walmart, Staples, Office depot.
I have gone digital with most of my filing. I also only keep what is absolutely necessary on print and if I get an update, I replace the original. I utilize 1 accordion file folder per year for mine and 2 for my parents (they have a ton of medical), 1 for each vehicle. I keep 7 years, which is audit period, then shred and purge.
