How to Turn a Wood Wine Box into Office Storage

Jamie
by Jamie
After being inspired by one of my blog projects, a reader asked me how she could turn a wooden wine box into storage for her office supplies. I have a few ideas, but would love to see what ideas someone else has. I thought about painting the inside lid with chalkboard paint or covering it in corkboard. I also thought about making wooden dividers inside the box to separate her supplies. Do you have any more ideas?

you can use scrapbook paper or use a method called "decoupage". I usually pick some nice scrapbook paper and glue it on the box. then you can use stamps and write "Office Supplies" or whatever you want on top of the box. dividers are also a great idea.

Thanks for your ideas Xena....love the scrapbook paper idea because it would allow her to customize the box according to her design taste...and the stamp idea is so creative...Love it!

It might be cute to line the inner lid with vintage style news print or a collage of old typography of words reflecting what will be stored inside the box. If you have access to old wooden rulers, those would make great dividers :)

Actually I like the box itself just the way it is. If the box is deep enough, and I'm guessing it is since it once held wine, I'd buy the modular drawer divider trays you find in the kitchen section of most department stores.

That would make the job of dividing the box into sections so easy! Thanks for the idea Becky!

Thanks Ruth....it's so nice to hear that the wine box has been used successfully in a project before!

I actually like the box just as it is too. Although it looks like the rigth depth for creating cubbies for my collection of watches instead…
