I need a way to neatly store all my vinyl rolls and pieces

I am addicted to my Silhouette Cameo cutting mating and I have TONS of vinyl, little rolls, big rolls, big pieces, little pieces....and I cannot seem to find a neat and tidy way to store everything. I'm a hider not a shower so I'd rather have them put away neatly out of site but organized and not taking up tons of room as they are now.

Since you're a hider, I'll suggest and under the bed roll out plastic container. Though there are many different kinds I have four of these and am very happy with them. http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/07/31/49/99/0007314999586_AV_500X500.jpg
  • If they are on rolls, would curtain rods work to hold the rolls which you put up in a closet if you had one. I actually use the cheap ones to put my ribbon on with a pin stuck in them to hold ribbon in place. works for me so i can see what i have. I would also suggest a shoe organizer with the smaller cubbies that could be covered and used as a table or work center. just some thoughts.

I like BOTH ideas, thank you ladies! @The Garden Frog with C Renee I think I'll also use the curtain rod idea for my ribbon too, genius! I'm on the search for under bed storage containers as the ones you mentioned @Z aren't available in any of our (6) walmarts :P

@Kris, I'm glad to have been helpful. You can order on wm.com and pick them up at the store for free if you can't find what you are looking for. And as Katheryn mentioned there are many other kinds of under the bed storage. Lowe's in a good place to check as they have quite a bit in their storage department.

In addition to the plastic underbed storage bins, there are some made of canvas and other fabrics; they zip. I've got my rolled goods standing up in a square waste-paper basket--that's something you could hide in a closet.
  • what about using the round cardboard cement forms used for footings? You can get these in sizes from 6" up to 24" wide and larger. They come in six foot lengths and can be cut using a standard hand saw. Once cut they can be mounted under shelves or hung on shelving brackets.

My hubby gave me a his workstation where he used for reloading. It fit perfectly in my craft closet. I use the drawers for some of my vinyl. Then I have a shelf in my crafting closet that I also use. Then I had another shelf in my crafting room that I use for my most commonly used vinyl. I keep these close to my cutter in my craft room. I store my scraps inside the hollow vinyl tubes, so I can see quickly if I have the right sized scrap for my project.

Did you see one of today's posts http://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/rooms/diy-wire-baskets-3159266?se=fol&tk=k54h08, where you can make your own wire basket? This will allow you to see what you have at a glance.

Hey I am going thru the same dilemma. I use much more ribbon, and deco mesh opposed to fabric but I have done some research and found some helpful ideas. I'm in the process of building a craft are as well as finishing my basement so I decided to use portable cheaper methods for now. For all of my smaller ribbon I picked up a few men's pants hangers at a local good will store for under a dollar. They are actually the easiest I used so far. I also bought some different sized curtain rods and cheap towel rods that I was either going to find a storage bin that fit them and cut holes along the sides of the boxes prop the rods in and load the larger ribbons and mesh. I also got some great ideas from pinterest showing a refurbished stand up CD holder that looked great (I'm sure you could find one with doors, if not making them to your desire is an option. Last I recently got a great deal at Walmart on clearance Christmas storage and I found a zip up ornament holder which is the perfect size and is made to fit under the bed or closet as well. I wish you the best of luck.

As far as ribbon, this has worked great for me. The ribbons are sorted by color and in some instances, by pattern. I got the containers from purchasing peanuts and parmesan cheese. I had saved them for a long time thinking they might come in handy. One day, I came up with this idea.
