How do I turn a very small room into a craft/studio?
The room is about 8X8 and has wire & wood shelving on two walls starting 4ft up from the floor.

Nina, here is the Pinterest website that gives you a ton of different ideas that you can use good luck https://www.pinterest.com/kelliescoleman/craft-studio-ideas/
Depending on how much room you have, you can always attach an old door (for crafting) on top of two used (two-drawer) file cabinets or those roller carts with bins for craft storage. You can find the file cabinets at Habitat for Rehab, Salvation Army, etc.
If space is really limited, you could always attach a fold down table to the wall for crafting (a murphy table).

Nina, I turned my dining room into a DR/office/sewing-craft room and I love it. You will too. One of the best things I did was to get rid of my small round table and get a 3' x 5' rectangular one. It has enough room to eat on one end (assuming you have only one or two people in your home) and have your sewing machine on the other or a craft project you are working on. It would take up quite a bit of space, but could be pushed against the wall and would be worth it. You could also store boxes or baskets under it. Also, bookshelves for storage; perhaps a pegboard on the wall for shelves or baskets to hold supplies. You may not have room, but credenzas are good. They're not very deep, but hold quite a bit. I have one for my sewing machine and one for a desk. Put something on the walls to make you smile -- a swarm of butterflies does it for me! (Very reasonable - ordered on-line.) Good luck and enjoy!
Thank you...Although I have a sewing machine it is not my biggest concern, I paint so having storage in my biggest concern for not only paint and painting equipment but also for my craft supplies! But I do appreciate your thoughts.
I found that putting my table up on bed risers gives my plenty of room for a rolling cart underneath. That really frees up room. I have a bench I sit on under there as well. A book shelf is a great option as well.
