1. Add 1 Teaspoon of Vinegar.
2. Add as much food coloring as desired (deeper color= more food coloring)
3. Cover and SHAKE vigorously for a minute or two.
4. Check to see if it's coated well!
5. Spread on paper towel or plate to dry, I was in a bit of a hurry so I spread the colored rice on a tin plate with paper towels and placed in oven at 200 degrees until dry.
With Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly approaching, it is easy to forget what I consider to be one of the most important American holidays. Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. I am sure that we all respect and appreciate the sacrifices made by all of our American veterans.
My post today is an effort to display the old red, white, and blue in a practical manner. My candle holder is very easy to put together and is also expensive. I used the following:
1. 2 cups white rice divided into thirds. (my pantry)
2. 1 cup white vinegar divided into thirds. (my pantry)
3. Red, and blue food color, enough for deep vibrant colors. White un-colored rice. (my pantry)
4. An attractive, 2 cup minimum, container. (Dollar Tree)
5. LED Tealight candles. (Dollar Tree)
After dying the rice, I placed it in the glass container with blue at the bottom, white in the middle and red on top. All I had to do then was to insert the LED candle and salute.
