DIY Buffalo Check Charger Plates

These Buffalo Check Chargers plates are perfect for entertaining!
You could say I'm obsessed with buffalo check and I'm also obsessed with up-cycling dollar store finds.

I started out with some banged up plastic charger plates from the doll store along with black, white and gray paint.
I painted the plates white (I used chalky paint for the white, it adheres to the plastic very well and has great coverage) and once dry, taped off 1" sections and painted 2 coats of gray between the tape (only the rim of the charger plate) and removed the tape.
Once the first set of stripes dried, I taped off the same sections perpendicular to the other stripes and painted those sections with 2 coats of gray paint. Do not remove tape.
After the second set of stripes dried, I added tape back to the sections were the first set of tape had been and painted with 2 coats of black paint.
Here is the finished buffalo check charger plate.
These charger plates were perfect for holiday dinner. I made some napkin rings out of red and black buffalo check ribbon (I told you I'm obsessed! ;) ) and stuck a sprig of evergreen from the backyard in the napkin. It smelled amazing!
