When you are out shopping the thrift stores you'll often find fake flowers as well as vintage napkin rings. If you like "all things pretty" when entertaining this project will show you how to repurpose those finds for your table.
I have been collecting vintage church hats for a long time and pull off the flowers to use in projects. More great sources for fake silk flowers are in the bargain bin of the craft store, thrift shops and yard sale and you'll often find plain and dull napkin rings there too! Once you have a small stash you are ready to embellish.
Start by deciding how many flowers you want to add to your napkin rings. Make sure that you hold them on the top and see how they will look before gluing. Then clip the backs off the flowers...more tips on that part of the process on my blog because there are a couple of things that you DON'T want to do!
Once you have the backs of your flowers flat, use a hot glue gun CAREFULLY to glue your flowers to the outside of the napkin rings one by one. If you have a large main flower that you'll be using, add some smaller leaves or petals around it for interest and dimension.
Make sure that you'll be able to pull a cloth napkin through the ring and you are ready to set the table with your unique handmade napkin rings! See lots of tablesetting tips on my blog at shabbyfufublog linked below and subscribe for my FREE seasonal decorating guide book!
