Blue and White Plate Wall From The Thrift Store

I really have wanted to pull a little blue and white into my bedroom space for...like...ever. Well, I finally collected enough pieces from the thrift store to do a wall.
For inspiration I consulted my collection of Charles Faudree books on French design. He was the master of the plate wall. Seriously...google him. You'll die. I'll wait right here for you to come back.
Did you catch your breath? Isn't he fabulous? My goals was to make it look like Charles Faudree could have done it himself. How do you think I did?
I'm really seriously contemplating painting the gold shelves white. I can't decide. Once the paint goes on though...the goldleaf they are will never come back so I am going to pause for just a little while.
So are you a blue and white plate lover like me? Love thrift stores? Would you paint the shelves? I really wanna know. Click on through for the full post where I reveal a major life realization.

How did you come up with the design? Was it hard or easy to duplicate the design onto the wall?
